Description of Book:  Winston Nesbitt is a 40-year-old loser. Even his parents have run away from him, leaving him living alone in their house. He's abused by his boss, and he's in love with a co-worker, but lacks the courage to tell her. On his 40th birthday, just when he thinks his life can get no worse, his grandmother, who has been dead for 16 years, comes to visit - or her spirit does. She has unfinished business, the reordering of Winston's life, and there's nothing she won't do to get the job done.

This is a rewrite of the original novel, published in 2010, with a lot of the extraneous material pruned, and more focus on Winston as a character. It also corrects formatting errors that were in the first edition which was published when I first began independently publishing my work, and was not as knowledgeable of such things as I am now.

About me as a writer:  I've been writing fiction since my teens. Around the time I was 13, I entered a short story contest sponsored by a national Sunday school magazine - and won first place. I've been an avid reader since I was four or five, and always liked making up stories, so when I saw my name in a national magazine, I was hooked - I would someday be a writer. From 1962 to 1982, when I was in the army, I moonlighted as a newspaper/magazine writer/photographer/artist at every post where I was stationed, and got work published in such magazines as Ebony, Essence, Eagle and Swan, Buffalo, Asia Magazine, etc. I was also an editorial cartoonist for a North Carolina weekly newspaper, had an art page and did covers for a now-defunct magazine devoted to minority military personnel (Buffalo), and had poetry published in a number of anthologies and publications (including the European edition of Stars and Stripes. I published my first book-length work in 2008 - the beginning of the Al Pennyback mystery series, and have to date published more than 50 works of fiction and nonfiction. I don't hesitate to characterize myself (insofar as my fiction is concerned) as a pulp writer in the image of Micky Spillane, L.Ron Hubbard, et al. I have no aspirations to be a 'literary' writer. I'm a teller of stories, and whatever i write must first and foremost entertain readers. If they learn something useful from it, that's just a bonus.
